It is with tremendous sadness that I have to inform you of John Coles passing. He went into hospital on Christmas Day/Boxing Day after experiencing chest pains.

I had spoken to him the week before asking him to consider coming up onto the stage at the end of Anything Goes to receive an award for long service, together with Graham and Gwen Swait. Needless to say he was very excited by this.

It is a very sad loss for our society as John remained a passionate President whose generosity was often overwhelming.

A private family funeral service will be held next week, with a memorial service at a later date TBD.

The Sound Of Music

Welcome to the Newbury Operatic Society website !

We are an amateur musical theatre group, based in the Newbury, Berkshire area, performing musicals, operetta and concerts.

We are members of NODA, the National Operatic and Dramatic Association, and our main productions are staged at the Newbury Corn Exchange.
